Weekend Out & About

This weekend I finally ventured out for a little bit. I've been going to work everyday but that doesn't mean I got "out." The metro is underground until you get past certain stops.

Saturday, I went out to my new apartment and checked it out. I like the quietness of the location and the area around it. There's a Target, Ross, Marshall's, Chili's, two grocery chains, Best Buy, other stuff, oh and Trader Joe's. The building itself also has: Laundry/Dry Cleaner, convenience store, hair salon, and FedEx. The metro bus stops directly in front of it. There are also 3 other buses that come there; they go to Tyson's Corner, Van Dorn Metro, and Pentagon Metro.

I also got my hair cut and I love it! It isn't too different but it's a hell of a lot shorter. I had about 3 inches cut off; I admit to closing my eyes and doing a deep breathing exercise during the process! At least I didn't cry:)

Later in the day my friend and colleague, Paula, drove around the downtown DC area. She showed me Georgetown, Dupont Circle, and the area where she lives. We stopped and went to ACKC Coco for some fantastic hot chocolate and then we went to Mexican food at Lauriol Plaza. I know, right! DC has nothing on Cali Mexican food but when in Rome:) I played it safe and stuck with salad. Then we went to George Washington University for a play; the Vagina Monologues.

They had just gone through this monologue about being forced to be shaved; her husband forcing her too. So they went around the room asking "What would your Vagina wear or say if it could?" They came over to me! Now, you know me, I always have some wise crack or something to say! When they asked me what my vagina would say, I said, very matter of fact "you want me shaved, let's shave you too!!"

The entire auditorium laughed and was "oooowwww"; the narrator said "now that's attitude!" Paula laughed and said "I knew they would come to you!" and I said "I'm the oldest person in this room, of course they came over to me!"

Anyway, I had a lot of fun. Today, I'm doing laundry, cleaning the apartment, and watching it rain. Very relaxing.

I think so. I'm chomping at the bit though; I want to be settled in my own place and figure out my way around this place. It's so overly populated and I'm lost half the time.
