The past year has been extremely difficult. We lost Dad in January and the rest of the year was just trying to live day to day. The mourning process continues and hurts a little less each day. There are some days when I just can't get out of bed and others that are OK. I'm not saying there weren't really good times because there were.
I won a very nice award from my company and took Mom and Deidra to the Dominican republic for four days. Thanks to a companion ticket, I was able to bring them to Virginia in September. We had a great time touring the city. Mom will be flying out here for Thanksgiving and we are going to Bastille for dinner.
I've also been doing a lot more cooking. There are a few people at work who I actually want to cook for, so that's what I've been doing. Usually they are my taste testers when I'm experimenting with recipes.
That just about sums up the entire year. I really just want to see this year over with.
Update: In December I was offered a position with the USPTO as a Federal employee. I resigned from my firm after 14.5 years. I started my new job on 1/17/17.
