Ah, vacation. The word rings relaxation and fun; so I must be doing something right & wrong!Instead of spending vacation on a sun kissed beach, exploring ancient ruins, ordering room service, relaxing, and finding “trouble” of the best possible kind....
I spend my vacation in the lovely valley town of Bakersfield, CA. The sun kissed everything, exploring the parent’s backyard, cooking meals, and finding zero trouble except the disapproving looks from my Mom on my choice of toe nail polish (of which I do on purpose!).
Lets not forget having a bit a skin removed from my feet by a deranged chihuahua who was pissed that I was going outside without inviting her:) Seriously, you have to invite her outside or she eats your feet.
Being in Bakersfield also means seeing old friends (yay!), laughter, familiarity, flashbacks to childhood, and Bill Lees Bamboo Chopsticks; I love their house special. It's the shrimp, I dream about that shrimp, if it was a man, I'd marry it!! Or something similar but not sure it's fit for print.
I was blessed to witness the hair raising fast aging of my nieces and nephews; making me feel really old in the process. Spend quality time with my siblings and of course receive the unconditional love of my parents. I love my family and friends and enjoy every minute I spend with them. Thank goodness cause vacation would suck if I didn’t:)
Anyway, vacation is over, back to the grind, back to exercising my brain, cubicles filled with colleagues (and yes I do like them), the hot/muggy weather of DC, and oh joy the traffic.
