Restaurant Week in DC 2010

It's restaurant week in DC. I'd never heard of this but all the high end restaurants participate.

More than 200 of DC's finest restaurant offer a three course meal (lunch and dinner) for about $35. Cuisines include contemporary American, Mexican, French, Mediterranean, Italian, southern, seafood, Spanish, Californian, Pan-Asian, and more! I'm so looking forward to next year!

Friday evening Jessica, Kim, and I went to Co Co Sala for dinner. It was amazing. It's all about the quality not the quantity but we were definitely not left wanting.

First up on the menu was the "Frozen Hot Chocolate Sip"; I wouldn't say it was frozen but more icy and the chocolate shavings on top were wonderful. The three of us toasted our meal with this "sip".

Next for me, the Manchego & Baby Arugula Salad with coffee vinaigrette; it was wonderful. There was a trail of chocolate along the plate but at first I didn't notice it. Once I was aware, I slid the salad onto the chocolate which really gave the salad a new spin. I loved it!

My two main courses were as follows:

Bacon Mac and Cheese with a slice of applewood bacon dipped in chocolate. This was by far the most delicious portion of my meal. Plus, the coco covered bacon was mashed into the mac and cheese!! So good.

I then had the Tandoori Chicken Slider. I actually liked it a lot. It's not like Indian Tandoori, even though the taste is similar. Slides are small, sort of like White Castle but three times as high. I really enjoyed the taste and the shredded carrots gave it more texture.

For dessert, I had way too much chocolate; I topped off dinner with the Chocolate Onyx.

The sorbet was just too rich for me but the brownie/creme brulee/mousse and salted caramel was just to die for!!

My friend Jessica had the Peaches and Creme and it was wonderful. Overall, an excellent experience. I truly enjoyed my food, the restaurant, and my friends. Another wonderful evening with the ladies.
