Khaki Ball

Well last evening was interesting; I went to the Khaki Ball with Brooke. I’m not sure if any of you have been to one but I haven't before. It reminded me a lot of a dinning in but less formal. The reason it's called a "Khaki Ball"; Navy Chiefs uniforms are khaki in color, as well as the officers. This ball is for Navy Chiefs only; E-7 and up.

The Ball was to welcome all the new Chief's; the ones who just made it this year and to celebrate with them. The Master Chief of the Fleet was there and he was pretty funny! We had cake, tons of food, free drinks (for an hour), a raffle, and dancing. Poor Brooke was sick as dog with a stomach flu and had to leave the party early.

Ok, now I know I’m a bit stuck up but dang, there were some hideous dresses there and by that I mean; if you are going to wear a black dress, wear black underwear too. I saw more backless, non-fitting dresses, with white bra and panties.

See, I’m stuck up. I wore a simple black skirt, with a black beaded top, low black heels, and a black strapless under garment; no straps to be seen. Very simple but it was tasteful. I wasn’t the prettiest or best dressed there but nothing was going to fall out or be seen. My friend Verity looked really pretty; pretty in pink! Ok, 80's flashback over! See the picture below.

We had an earthquake today, 7.0 around noon. I didn’t feel the quake but I was queezy. I remembered looking at the clock and thinking “what is wrong with you, take a nap”. How sad am I?  We had a 7.0 earthquake and I don’t even feel it. I guess growing up in California keeps me from feeling them.
