The Ladies Hit Up: Neyla “A Mediterranean Grill”

What can I say except another great find in DC!! Neyla in Georgetown.

As I’ve said before, I’m a foodie and finally I found a place that has not only Lebanese but Moroccan too. The service was impeccable and I hate to admit this but I think I’ve become a snob. Not only do I judge a place by its food quality but now I judge it by the service and I never use to do this; especially when my motto is “It’s All About the Food”.

Inspired by Romanesque Mediterranean villas, and influenced by the myriad peoples who settled in that wondrous part of the world, Neyla is a delightful mix of exotic cultures, inspired in the homes, hearths and taverns of the rugged land known first as Phoenicia, then the Ottoman Empire, and later the Republic of Lebanon. From nomadic Arab tribes, Ottoman Turks, Egyptians, Greek and French rulers, Neyla's food melds the best of all the Mediterranean cultures.

Renowned Lebanese mezzas tell the tongue a story of four thousand years of culinary history. Vegetables, salads, grilled meats and fish are set off by light, and subtly spiced sauces. Coriander, cinnamon, basil, thyme, Turkish pastries, coffee with cardamom enriches the cuisine and speak to its heritage.
For our appetizer we ordered a combination of treats!

Lahmajeen - Thin Pita Bread topped with Lamb, Tomato
Lebanese Tasting - Aromatic, lavish and exotic tastings of Hommus, Baba Ghannoug, Tabbouleh, Warak Enab, Rakayek bil Jibneh, Meat Kibbeh, & Chicken Shawarma Ideal for two but we got it for four!

My main dish was the Chicken Shish Taouk - Chicken Kebob, Garlic, Lemon (OMG, to die for)!!

We had the best time!!
