| New Jersey Coast - Boardwalk is Gone |
I couldn’t even sleep in my own bed due to the noise of the wind, the noise of the building being hit by the wind, and I swear I could feel the building move in the wind. I decided to grab my blanket and pillow and sleep in front of my bathroom door. I even had my emergency bag, rain boots, and flashlight in front of the apartment door for just in case purposes.
This is not my first rodeo; I’ve been through typhoons, hurricanes, tornadoes, and earthquakes. I don’t normally get scared but lying in bed and feeling the building move and the noise it made, did rattle my nerves a bit. As soon as I got down on the floor, I was out! I did wake up few times during the worst of the wind.
I’m so thankful that I don’t live in New York (NY), New Jersey (NJ), or West Virginia (WV). All three were slammed by the superstorm with WV getting blasted with snow.
The images from the NYC/NJ are incredible; I can’t believe the amount water (14 feet) throwing through the streets of Manhattan and Battery area. There is a huge fire in NJ and explosions at power stations. The National Guard and Army are there to assist the first responders.
So far “Sandy” has claimed the lives of at least 16 people on the east coast. The cities are devastated and with NYC being under water, the economy is going to suffer greatly.

| Downed Tree |
In my area, hundreds of thousands are without power. Thankfully I have power and never lost it completely. It flickered off and on during the worst of the winds but in Alexandria near Huntington are all the power is out, trees are down, and there is flooding.
