Traveling Issues From Guam; and you wonder why?

For everyone who thinks flying is easy; you should fly from Guam to Los Angeles:) I love my family and friends very much but there are two major reasons for not coming home and now you are going to get to find out why!!!! I do have it easy in one way, I get to stop in LA; not DC or Ohio!! I'm laughing already.
Here we go:

For this trip: 23 hrs and 10 min is a good flight on Northwest or 18 hrs on Continental if you can get a flight (good luck). We have limited schedules and airlines from Guam. So you take what you can get. The shorter flight (18 hrs) on Northwest is about $800 more.

First, you have to get to the airport 2 hrs early.

Guam to Tokyo: 4 hrs of flying and then a 2 hour layover (layover is different everytime)

Tokyo to Honolulu: 6hr 50 min flying and then a 5 hour layover

Honolulu to LAX: 5hr 29 min of flying. Now, wait for luggage, go get rental car (if you can afford one for two weeks) or wait 2 hours for the next bus to Bakersfield.

Get rental car and drive the 2 to 4 hour drive to Bakersfield depending on LA traffic. It can take up to 29.5 hours to get to Bako but on a good day, 27 hrs.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The real treat is flying back to Guam; this time it’s going to take me over 33 hours for travel; however, tack on the 2 to 4 hour drive to the LAX from Bakersfield and then you have to be there 3 hrs early because it’s an international flight. So now you are looking at 38 to 40 hrs. Unless your flight is in the afternoon, you need to go down the night prior and get a hotel room cause you will never make an early morning flight.
LAX to Tokyo: 11hrs 55 min flying (jump ahead a day for international date line) and have a 16 hour layover and you have to get a hotel room because the next flight isn't until the following day. Oh, did I mention there are only two flights a day to Guam from Tokyo?
Tokyo to Guam: 3hrs 35 min flying and now you can tack on 3 days of your hard earned vacation; instead of 1 day, it just cost you 3.
Grand total: 67+ hours of flying/waiting/driving; air fare of $1200 to $2000 (for Coach on a great day) and a total of 3 days wasted vacation hours for a single flight.
If any of you ever wondered why I haven't come home; now you know!!!! I am laughing and not complaining, trust me. It's worth it though because after all of this mess, you get to spend time with family & friends.
